Join VOS - P'nai Tikvah for Passover Programs
As area Jewish families prepare for the Passover holiday which begins Monday, April 18; one local synagogue is having their Seder at Three Square as a way to immediately take action on one of the profound Passover teachings:
“Let all who are hungry, come and eat.
and all who are needy come and celebrate.”
According to Rabbi Yocheved Mintz, “Both physically and spiritually, we are enjoined to come together, to provide for each other’s physical needs, and lift each other in celebration of our freedom. In a community where one in six of our population is hungry—according to a recent study released by Feeding America and Three Square Food Bank— we wanted to focus attention and support for Three Square’s worthwhile efforts.”
At their regular Kabbalat Shabbat Service, Friday evening, April 15th, at 5555 Redwood Street, the congregation is planning a food drive of nonperishable items. Then Valley Outreach Synagogue -- P'nai Tikvah will host its communal Passover Seder at 6:00 p.m. April 19 in the Community Function Room of the Three Square Food Band, 4220 N. Pecos Road. Tickets are $25; $15 for children younger than 13; and free for ages 4 and younger ($70 maximum charge per family). Reservations can be made by calling (702) 436-4900.
Led by Rabbi Yocheved Mintz and Family, dinner will be catered by the members of the synagogue and include traditional kosher for Passover recipes charoset from around the world, gefilte fish, Passover kugel, brisket, chicken, Passover cake, matzah and more.
