It might be easier than you think with a few selective tools and methods you can increase your chances of success considerably.

Market Research

Its important for any business to do their research.  Luckily there are some excellent tools you can use to conduct extensive market research on eBay.  Tools which provide very detailed reports about products, sellers and times of the day/month/year.  There is little need to leave too much to chance any more.

Using such tools can provide a potential or underperforming eBay trader with a serious competitive advantage.  Avoid stocking or buying slow moving products, list only when you know the bulk of product sales are made and probably most importantly understand who you direct competition is and what you might have to do to convince an eBay shopper to purchase from you and not someone else.

Listing Strategy

Another improtant aspect is when to list your products and how they will gain exposure to your target audience.  Your market research tools will tell you the best time to list and the best keywords to use, but this is not always the end of the story.

There is little point listing under a title that is only going to gain page 1 exposure on eBay for a few minutes.  The bulk of listings sell or gain rapid interest from page 1 so therefore be careful to research beforehand to ensure you have good staying power on page 1 for you chosen keywords / title.
