Ruined is a compelling story about women's courage and grace in overcoming sexual violence in the midst of the conflict zone in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The playwright, Lynn Nottage, is the second African American woman in history to win a Pulitzer for the play, which has been picked by Oprah Winfrey for a movie adaptation.
Honoring the women on this special Mother’s day, we will celebrate the human dignity of the Congolese women and their resilience in combating enormous odds in their fight for peace, stability and growth.
