April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Patricia Dixon is originally a native of New Orleans, LA who was blown to Houston, TX on the winds of 2005s Hurricane Katrina, will be reading poetry at several different venues for AIPF. Since arriving in Houston, Ms. Dixon has become a Lifetime Member of Gulf Coast Poets and Poetry Works Workshops. Ms. Dixon recently completed her Master's Degree in Literature from University of Houston-Clear Lake, and is currently pursuing a Stegner Writing Fellowship to Stanford University. Her goal is to be an independent poet, author and college professor.

Praise is What I Do is first and foremost an expression of deep love and commitment to the God. Its words are an outpouring of praise and worship.  Although these words cannot adequately express all of the author's inexpressible joy, it is an attempt to share her deep reverence, faith, and love for God. The poems in this volume cover everything from expressions of praise to poems about controversial issues such as genetic manipulation and homosexuality. None of the poems in this volume are meant to offend, but to express, in poetic form, the poet's biblical understanding sent back to God and its readers in the form of praise for His unconditional and incomparable love.

Join over 250 registered poets and poetry lovers April 7-10, 2011 for four days of readings, workshops and open mics at the world's largest non-juried poetry festival. Poets as far away as Australia and as close to home as down the street celebrate the written and spoken word. It started with four founders back in 1992, and today, this four-day, citywide, all-inclusive annual celebration of poets and poetry has grown to become “the largest non-juried poetry festival in the U.S.” It includes 30 live local readings, 10 poetry workshops, 10 open mics, 10 youth poetry events, two anthology competitions and readings, two poetry slams, a movie presentation, a poetry all-nighter and a poetry symposium! AIPF is the “work of heART” of volunteer-based local non-profit Austin Poets International, Inc. This year API is honored to present over 16 International, National, Regional and Local Featured Poets reading alongside over 200 Registered Poets at 16 local venues across Austin. Join the celebration!
