National Radio Host to Kick-off Relay for Life

(Sarasota, FL) - Matt Bruce, nationally-syndicated radio host, dedicated war veteran and first responder to the World Trade Center on 9/11 with the Fire Department of New York, will headline the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" walk in Sarasota.

The walk will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sarasota High School football field (1000 South School Avenue, Sarasota).

Bruce will lead the kick-off for the veteran's portion of the walk, which starts at 6:00 p.m. Proceeds from pledges and donations will go to the Sarasota County Veterans Commission to help promote cancer awareness, especially among Vietnam vets who were exposed to herbicides and Agent Orange.

Team Sarasota County Veterans Commission (TEAM SCVC) will have their 16' x 32' tent, also known as "The Hooch," in full display.

"We want to let these valued veterans know that there is information available about how they can receive assistance with health care and benefits if they were exposed to herbicides and are suffering from their effects," Bruce says of the Relay.

At 6:00, there will be a Patriotic Lap, with all military veterans and their families strongly encouraged to participate, preferably in uniform and/or something patriotic in attire.

Relay for Life 2011 will continue throughout the night and until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 10.
