Harrisburg University and Drexel University Partner for Secondary Teacher Certification Program

FACT: The American Competitiveness Initiative (ACI) has predicted that by 2015, the United States will be facing a shortage of 283,000 secondary math and science teachers.
 
April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Trained, high-quality science and math teachers have a direct impact on the ability of America’s students to compete internationally in these fields now and in the future.

Drexel University’s School of Education and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology proudly announce a new teacher certification program for individuals who have earned their undergraduate degree and now have an interest in teaching at the middle or high school levels. Offered at Harrisburg University's state-of-the-art Academic Center, the Post-Baccalaureate Secondary Teacher Certification is designed for individuals seeking to meet requirements leading to eligibility for PA Instructional I Certification.

Students choose from five course-specific content areas that include:

Mathematics
Biology
Physics
Chemistry
General Science
Upon successful completion, students have the option of applying the 33 earned graduate core pedagogy credits to Drexel’s Master of Science in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum, a graduate program offered online or on Drexel’s campus in Philadelphia.

The 1:1 advising/guidance sessions are scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., April 20 and May 9, 2011.  General information sessions are set for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., April 20 and May 9, 2011.
