Tequila Show Kicks-Off the Summer of 2011

April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Toronto, Ont. (April 1, 2011 ) – The 2nd Tequila and More Spirits and Cocktails Show is returning to Toronto to kick-start summer at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on May 6, 2011.
Canada’s largest Tequila Tasting will offer visitors Mexico’s top Tequilas, Mescales, Mexican beer and authentic Latin food. Visitors can taste, sip and savour Tequila and Mescales direct from Mexico, making their first appearance in Ontario.  

Join thousands of people for a night of entertainment and enjoy Mixology demonstrations, Mescal blind tasting, Flair competition, Cigar rolling demonstrations, Moustache and sombrero photo shoot, Tequila tutored tastings and Live Music.

2011 Show Highlights:

Mixology Matters – Agave Spirits make ridiculously good cocktails!

Rob Montgomery and Gavin McMillan, two of Canada’s leading mixologists, will mix, shake and stir in an interactive presentation showcasing their award-winning recipes for agave cocktails – which have been featured in bars and restaurants coast to coast – offering tips on techniques, selecting the right cocktail and using the right ingredients. If lucky, visitors might get to join them on stage!
Toronto Flair League Finals!
Don’t miss Toronto’s best in bottle flippin, tin spinnin, drink makin, and entertainment. Toronto Flair League is proud to present the city’s top flair bartenders and mixologists. Sit in awe watching the passion and creativity of Toronto’s best in the world of flair bartending while enjoying hand-crafted cocktails made with the finest tequila and fresh ingredients.

Tequila 101 with Ian Chadwick

A fun, tutored tasting that will teach the basics of tequila: where it comes from, how it’s made and a bit of history about North America’s oldest distilled spirit. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sample great tequila along the way.

Mastering Mescal with Gavin MacMillan - Discover why Mescal earned the name “Elixir of the Gods”

Still think mescal is a hallucinogenic spirit with a worm? Join us and open your eyes to this complex and amazing spirit category. This blind tasting workshop will demonstrate why Mescales deserve a category apart from Tequilas. Discover the myths and truths to the curious worm in the bottle, and why it was added in the first place.

“This year’s event is promising to be better and bigger, offering visitors some excellent mescals and tequilas that are not available in Ontario.
