Start time and location are 7:00 a.m. at Main and Chestnut in downtown Rockford.
Participants have the option to sign up for either a full (26.2 mile) or half (13.1 mile) marathon. The course route is along the Rock River. There will also be a community & sports expo at nearby Davis Park.
Current advance discounted registration fees are $75 (full marathon); $55 (half marathon); and $150 for teams. (Runners who are members of the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) and who register online receive $10 off the registration fee.)
NEW at this year's marathon will be a pasta dinner on Saturday, May 14, at the Best Western Clock Tower Resort, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Open to participants, their families and friends, cost is $12 per person if dinner tickets are purchased online at wwww.rockfordmarathon.com before May 14. Dinner tickets purchase at the door are $17 per person.
The 2010 marathon drew more than 1,100 runners. More than 5,000 spectators lined the streets to cheer runners from across the Midwest.
In addition to CARA, the Rockford Marathon is also USATF (USA Track & Field)-certified. It is presented in conjunction with the Rockford Area Convention & Tourism Bureau.
A portion of proceeds will again benefit the non-profit Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. (Runners also have the option to create a personal fundraising page to raise pledges.)
