Child Abuse Awareness Week – all profits of 'Empty Chairs' to charity

Stacey Danson will donate all profits from her 'Empty Chairs' during April 2011 to charities for the protection and care of victims of child abuse. Night Publishing will donate all its share of the profits from her book to those charities for a year.

April 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The actual levels of the abuse of children would probably astonish and shock almost everyone except those who work with abused children. Some social workers have estimated that incidences of abuse  can be over 50% of all children in some countries.

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Stacey Danson has recently released a book about her highly abusive childhood called 'Empty Chairs' in which she catalogues quite calmly the way she was sold to members of the community she lived in, including the family doctor, from the age of three, eventually running away from home at the age of eleven whereupon she was adopted by a street gang.

Of the fifteen members of that street gang of children, only two are alive today.

Stacey Danson herself, now in her fifties, suffers from chronic illness caused by the physical damage she received during those years of abuse and street life, and requires regular medical attention to stay alive.

Stacey wrote 'Empty Chairs' to fulfil a promise she once made to a friend called Jenny who has since died.

In a desire for the issues relating to child abuse to be much better understood by society at large, Stacey has decided to donate her share of all the profits of her book in all its formats during April 2011 to charities that specialise in the protection and care of children who have been subjected to child abuse.

As her publisher, Night Publishing has agreed to donate its share of the royalties on her book for a year, from April 2011 to March 2012, to the same charities.

The children must be protected and the first level of protection they will have is for everyone to be much more acutely aware of what happens, much more often than one would think, behind the closed doors of the house next door.
