AST launches email service for IsatPhone Pro

March 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Applied Satellite Technology (AST), a leading provider of global satcomms solutions, today announced the availability of onsatmail, its free compressed e-mail service, on IsatPhone Pro handheld satellite phones.

The service will take advantage of a new data capability for IsatPhone Pro to be introduced by Inmarsat via a firmware upgrade on March 31st 2011.  The new circuit-switched data capability will offer an effective data rate of up to 20kbps.

AST also announced today that it has activated its 1,000th IsatPhone Pro.
