March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- The Virginia Kenshinkai's Sixth Annual 2011 Swordfest features nationally and internationally recognized exhibitors, trainers and community artisans among Mixed Edged Sword Art communities. Both Eastern and Western Mixed Edged Sword Art practitioners are invited to Swordfest each year to present their specialized demonstrations and train attendees on finer points of their arts. There are still spaces available for attendees interested in joining in a training session on Friday May 13th and Sunday May 15th. Each of these dates feature thirty minute and one hour training sessions from the experts (nominal fees of $15.00 for thirty minutes and $25.00 for one-hour training sessions are charged).

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday May 14th, 2011 Swordfest demonstrations are presented by World Renown Mixed Art Edged Weaponry Specialists and last until 4:30 p.m.  Our talented Swordsmen and Swordswomen present unique capabilities derived from unparalleled craftsmanship earned through years of training and practice. Certainly, the 2011 Swordfest and a visit to the Virginia Kenshinkai of the Capital Area Budokai is a worthwhile consideration this spring. Demos on Saturday are free, a donation box will be located at the dojo entrance and we hope our guests and visitors will take an opportunity to consider donating to the Virginia Kenshinkai to aid us in furthering our community centered programs.

During the Kenshinkai's three day Swordfest Japanese Community and Mixed Edged Weaponry Sword Art event vendors will also be displaying their crafts, literature, and sword (mixed edged weaponry) artifacts. We are presenting a series of prize drawings comprised of collectibles and art-wares. This is a rare opportunity to garner insight from these swords art stars and to capture avant garde photographs while gaining an intrinsic comprehension for East and West Mixed Edged Weaponry Sword Arts.

Practicing Swordsmen and Swordswomen are genuinely happy to connect with guests and discuss original art-forms, which often date far into history. These professional artisans provide a glimpse into preceding worlds and this this year's event provides another rare opportunity via the following itinerary:

About the Virginia Kenshinkai: a 501(c)(3), Virginia Kenshinkai provides student training and education, sponsored trips to international and national venues, and facilitates appreciation of Japanese culture and history centered on Japanese Sword Arts. Invitations are extended to elicit further tradition, participation, education, community awareness and market capabilities. This year we will be accepting donations to aid our friends in Japan in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami. These are to be remitted to affiliate organizations within Japan to use at their discretion in restoration and renewal.

For 2012, the International Batto Do Federation (IBF), headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, has asked the Virginia Kenshinkai to host an International Batto Do Tai Kai next spring. The Kenshinkai is a branch Dojo within the IBF. We are hosting Judges and Senior Sensei from Japan with invitations to international branches (Britain, Serbia, Indonesia, and Australia). All exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, marketers and literature distributors from the 2011 Swordfest are first tier of invitees for IBF participation next spring. Various Japanese Sword Art Dojos throughout the United States (Florida, NY, California, plus others) are committed to attend and support Tai Kai in 2012 as well, which is to be an excellent Sword Art event opportunity.
