‘The Adjustment Bureau’ received a standing ovation in a suburban theateenlightenmentr on opening night. In light of the Economic Crash, the Tsunami, Japanese Radiation Disaster and ongoing conflict in the Middle East, people are ready and willing to believe the theme of inspiration for the day.  That theme is; strengthen your will and you will rise up beyond the mundane order of a preordained destiny.
Tracing back through the past twenty years we see a thread of consistent spiritual intrigue and hope as Hollywood reveals their version of what’s up on the other side to the soul parched American public. As church attendance declined movie going arose.  Film, unlike denominations and religious groups, promote no separation or exclusivity.
Our list of memorable films in this category are; Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze’s  hit ‘Ghost’ in 1990 to  1991 ‘Defending Your Life’ with Meryl Streep and Albert Brooks falling in love in the afterlife. Next on our list of inspirations John Travolta’s; ‘Michael ‘ the zany version of an Arch Angel who loves his sugar, women and a good head butting with a bull every now and again. We have our mind bending experience with Keanu Reeves and Lawrence Fishburne in ‘The Matrix’ as we move through a long list of other realm films.  The Adjustment Bureau has most definitely made its mark, hitting a chord with the American Audience in 2011.
In the Adjustment Bureau the concepts of Enlightenment/Unlimited Love and Freewill play out before the audience on the big screen as the theater becomes a kind of sanctuary of sorts for exploring faith and spiritual concepts. In an earlier era might have been skirted over or partially addressed in a religious/spiritual environment or organization. Taboos aside, Hollywood has become Holy-would.
Americans once so keen on religious freedom now seek the thrill ride of adrenaline rush action film vehicles to explore concepts beyond physical reality. Pop culture has christened Hollywood and the motion pictures as the new spiritual path of the day.  Audiences look to screen writers, actors and directors to shake them awake from the fog of a challenged reality. It’s the Fast food jump start of spiritual life.  Viewers now turn to movies for hope and inspiration.
