Food Safety Webcast of JustFoodERP Reveals Important Answers

Q. How are quality audits performed on the shop floor?

A. There are a couple of options for performing an audit. You can maintain a paper-based system or an automated system. With a paper-based system, the quality auditors will do their quality checks, record them on paper either on the floor or in the lab, and then record the results into the system. Alternatively, customers can automate the process by incorporating technology on the floor through the use of a mobile device. With this approach, the quality audits are performed in real time. Employees are given a notification to perform an audit, the audit can take place on the floor (Visual or sensory checks) and then record the results in real time. Alternatively, the audits (lab tests) can be performed in a designated room and then captured in the system in real time.

Q. Does quality extend to production and shipping?

A. Quality does extend to production and shipping. You can attach a quality procedure to an inventory item, and that quality procedure can happen at a number of different stages in production. You can actually force an audit at any stage of that material’s movement, including production and shipping. Further to that, the shipping process within JustFoodERP can indicate if a specific finished good in combination with a customer requirement demands the need for specific documentation such as a CofA, manifest, etc.

Q. Does JustFoodERP have a WMS system?

A. Yes, there is a full WMS system inherent within JustFoodERP. Our WMS fully supports handheld and RF devices from every step from receiving all the way through shipping. Functions include receiving, label printing, quality, putaway, picking, consumption and production output, staging, shipping, transfer, reclassification, counting, and various lookup functions.

Q. Does JustFoodERP have a physical inventory function? How does it handle inventory adjustments?

A. There are both physical and cycle counts available to you. There is a view that allows you to see your inventory availability by location, by lot, by variant, by time, and by period. So there are a number of different views for your inventory at any given time. The actual cycles can be done on a gun. There is a full inventory management system in here as well.

Q.  How detailed is the costing and nutritional component in your program?

A.  There is a full costing and nutritional component within JustFoodERP’s recipe management system. With an integrated ERP system, the costing will be fully integrated to purchasing and purchasing decisions. There are also a number of different costing methods, all of which are real time and integrated with the finance application. You can actually compare multiple costing methods simultaneously and use a combination of different methods in the way you want.
