Introducing Reynobond Design Line trompe l’oeil paint finishes by Alcoa Architectural Products

Introducing Reynobond Design Line. New trompe l’oeil paint finishes from Alcoa Architectural Products so realistic they’ll fool Mother Nature herself

March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Eastman, GA:  Sustainable design practices are the new norm in architecture. The call for environmentally sensitive products with the potential to add LEED® points to a project continues to grow. Inspired by requests from architects around the world, Alcoa scientists in Merxheim, France, developed the Reynobond® Design Line, a breakthrough collection of Colorweld® DL paint finishes so realistic that they’re almost indistinguishable from real granite, wood, travertine and terra cotta. The new Design Line paint finishes provide an option for architects who want to capture the natural aesthetics of those materials without mining any irreplaceable stone or cutting down any trees. The painted finishes are engineered to hold up to the corrosive effects of saltwater, intense UV exposure and extreme temperature shifts without warping, cracking or fading, so there are no geographic limitations on where it can be used.

Reynobond Design Line paint finishes, now available in the U.S., provide the freedom to design without the restrictions imposed by weight and properties of natural materials. By employing a painted application, rather than a film, Design Line patterns can be easily matched on unlimited quantities of panels and on coil fabricated for flashing materials – enabling the fabricator to maintain the consistency of color and pattern throughout a project. When using the Reynobond Face Fastened Solution installation system, even screws and rivets can be supplied in colors that blend with the chosen finish.

“Architects around the globe have responded with enthusiasm,” said Sid Peterson, vice president of sales and marketing for Alcoa Architectural Products. “Aluminum is a natural, recyclable material. By designing with ACM, architects can incorporate sustainable, cutting-edge materials without sacrificing style or quality. And by paying close attention to the colors, patterns and materials they specify most often, we’ve developed a broad color palette as our standard offering. Custom finishes are also easily achieved when coil coating. For instance, our Wood Grain pattern can be produced in virtually any color and in quantities as small as 4,000 square feet or large enough to meet the needs of custom branding programs.”

Wood Grain ACM, the first pattern introduced in the collection, has been expanded to include Nordic White, Sunny Pear, Walnut Brown, Mahogany Brown, Cedar Brown, Colonial Red, Zebra, Koya Line, Zebrano Natural, Pale Oak, Golden Oak, Scottish Oak, Okene Line, Dark Oak, Embala Brown, Oleyo Brown, Italian Walnut, Dark Zebrano, Aneho Brown and Café Brown. Stone and mineral finishes include Riyad Stone, Light Oyster Travertine, Apollo Stone, Mineral Grey, Mineral Antra Metalica, Mineral Red, White Granite, Blue Grey Granite, Black Granite and Rose Granite. The terra cotta faux finishes in Terra Cream, Terra Di Tosca, Terra Cotta Mineral and Terra Di Siena have a subtle texture on the surface. Rust Patina, Zinc Patina and Copper Patina provide the look of weathered natural metals. With the addition of Reynobond Design Line finishes, Alcoa can provide options that fit any budget.

Constructed from two sheets of aluminum permanently bonded to either a Polyethylene (PE) or Fire Resistant (FR) core, the Reynobond Design Line combines the beauty of natural materials with the practicality of Reynobond ACM. The material is extraordinarily flat, strong, highly formable and available in a variety of lengths. Panels can be roll formed, shaped, bent, routed, punched or cut to achieve small-radius curves, reverse curves, angles and other shapes to create dramatic, distinctive designs not possible with natural materials like stone and wood. Coil coated with Alcoa’s patented paint process, the Design Line finishes have a standard 20-year warranty.
