March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Operation Cling Film Speeds Up At French Franks
New Speedwrap cling film dispenser from Prowrap fits right in at French Franks on the Isle of Wight

French Franks is a busy café and sandwich bar in Newport, Isle of Wight, which has recently switched from using traditional cling film cutterboxes to the Speedwrap 450 catering dispenser from Prowrap. Open from 8am am till 5pm, French Franks serves quality fresh fast food to around 400 covers per day.
Food is prepared on the premises throughout the day – all foods have to be carefully covered with cling film to preserve freshness and maintain hygiene.    French Franks specialises in fresh filled baguettes which can easily be made to order once the ingredients are prepped and ready to use.
Along with many cafes, French Franks has limited space in the preparation area so every piece of equipment has to prove its worth. Previously the kitchen struggled to find the space to fit in a cling film dispenser and managed by hand tearing the rolls resulting in lost ends, frayed tempers, wasted time, scrunching and lots of useless cling film in the bin.
However the new Speedwrap dispenser from Prowrap is far less bulky than many other catering dispensing systems available and French Franks find they can easily accommodate it into their working routine. Even the larger Speedwrap 450, which dispenses 450mm wide x 300m long catering rolls of cling film or aluminium foil, has been designed to take up minimal space on the work top, only fractionally more than the roll of cling film itself.
“I only have received positive feedback on the Speedwrap from the kitchen,” says Roger Lyons, manager at French Franks. “The chef thinks it’s fantastic and says it genuinely saves time, making covering the trays of prepared food much easier than with the cutterboxes we used beforehand. What I have noticed is that I don’t see wasted cling film in the bin anymore, we must be saving about a roll a month since we switched to the Speedwrap.”
Benefits experienced at French Franks since switching to the Speedwrap include financial savings, improved hygiene, reduced waste and a reduction in preparation time.
“The cutting is great – we can do it with one hand – the loading is easy and the design is sturdy. But its number one feature for us has to be the size,” explains Lyons. “After all it’s that compact design that allows us to use it here.”
Speedwrap is available in 300mm or 450mm widths.  Refill cling films and foils are sold in packs of three.

Notes for editors
•   The Prowrap commercial range has been developed exclusively for the foodservice and bakery sectors and is produced in Wrapex’s manufacturing and warehousing facility in Bristol.
•   Prepare, Protect, Preserve: Prowrap leads the film & foil market in terms of innovation and environment-awareness.  For example, its Speedwrap dispenser, launched as part of its ‘Prepare, Protect, Preserve’ initiative, offers the most compact, clean, fast and efficient way to handle foil and cling film in busy kitchens – with absolutely no scrunching!  Meanwhile the Prowrap ‘green’ outer packaging solution minimises the amount of material used to pack its products, whilst still protecting them effectively.
•   The total UK ‘film & foil’ market is worth around £100million per year.
