March 30, 2011 - PRLog -- FREENET has once again joined millions around the world to pledge its support for Earth Hour on 26 March, 2011. To take collective action on climate change, the lights in our data center and Network Operation Center (NOC) were turned off for one hour from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

2010 was the first time FREENET participated in Earth Hour, a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) or better known as World Wildlife Fund. Since its inception three years ago in Sydney, Australia, Earth Hour initiative has become a global phenomenon. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to America were officially switched off making the event the world’s largest global climate change initiative. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration of one thing in common – our planet.

Earth Hour is more than switching off lights for one hour once a year, but rather adopting a more responsible daily lifestyle. Little things like switching to energy savings light bulbs, unplugging unused electronic devices, reducing waste, recycle, carpooling and planting trees make a difference in creating a sustainable low carbon future for our planet.
