FOR-A Debuts Series of Compact 3G/HD/SD/ASI Routing Switchers at NAB 2011

Designed for small and medium-scale systems, the MFR-3232, MFR-3216, MFR-1616R, and MFR-1616 offer a variety of inputs and outputs.

March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Fort Lee, N.J. – FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will debut four compact multi-format routing switchers at the 2011 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nev., April 11-14 (Booth C5219). Designed for small and medium-scale systems, the MFR-3232, MFR-3216, MFR-1616R, and MFR-1616 offer a variety of inputs and outputs. All four automatically recognize and support 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, and ASI signals.

Housed in 2 RU cabinets, the MFR-3232 (32 inputs/32 outputs), MFR-3216 (32 inputs/16 outputs), and MFR-1616R (16 inputs/16 outputs) offer optional redundant CPUs. The MFR-3216 (16 inputs/16 outputs) is housed in a 1 RU cabinet. All four models offer the option of redundant AC power.

Despite their compact size, the new units include features from the large-scale MFR-5000 Series routing switcher that was introduced at the 2010 NAB Show, such as: tally connections with peripheral devices, automatic source name tracking, and an interface function that allows synchronous operation by linking multiple routing switchers. An Ethernet connection also makes it possible to link and interface the new routing switchers with the MFR-5000 Series. Beyond ordinary crosspoint switching, the new routing switchers also offer various crosspoint controls to prevent incorrect operation.

“Complex digital production environments are not restricted to large-scale operations,” said Pedro Silvestre, Sales Director, FOR-A Corporation of America. “Our new routing switchers offer the reliable multi-format support required by smaller facilities in affordable, compact configurations.”

The new routing switchers include a built-in Web server that enables external control using a browser. FOR-A also offers optional remote control units, including the basic MFR-40RU with 40 buttons and the MFR-18RU, which features 18 buttons with LCD display to show the source name and settings. The MFR-39RU is a 2 RU model with 39 buttons, LCD display and 10 function buttons. It is ideal as a main control unit that can cover all crosspoints. An optional GPI unit (MFR-GPI) is also available.

The MFR-3232, MFR-2116, MFR-1616R, and MFR-1616 will be available at the end of this month.
