Oracle Joins IJIS Institute as its Seventh Sustaining Member

Institute’s prestigious member class continues to grow

March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Ashburn, Va., March 29, 2011. The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security, announces that Oracle has upgraded its member status to become the organization’s seventh Sustaining Member. Oracle has been a Member of the IJIS Institute since April 8, 2010.

The Board of Directors of the IJIS Institute approved the creation of the Sustaining Member program last year. This elite class of membership in the IJIS Institute provides companies with a more significant and tangible way in which to support the Institute and its programs. In addition to significant financial support, Sustaining Members lend expertise and partner with the IJIS Institute in special projects that further the mission of the Institute and promote information sharing successes.

Sustaining Members of the IJIS Institute receive a number of benefits in addition to those of regular Members, including enhanced recognition on the Institute’s web site and in other promotional materials, expanded allowances for event attendance and participation, invitation-only meetings with industry and government leaders and private briefings by IJIS Institute executive staff on strategic issues important to the information sharing initiatives and standards.  Sustaining Membership is an excellent avenue for companies to express good corporate citizenship on a national level.

“Oracles believes that the emerging National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) standard will set the stage for significant transparency and agility for government operations by laying the foundation for a comprehensive open data exchange standard. Oracle sees our investment in NIEM as a natural extension of our efforts to foster open industry standards across the Public sector. We are pleased to announce Oracle’s upgraded member status as IJIS Institute’s seventh Sustaining Member, and look forward to participating within the NIEM community in a meaningful way, “ said Peter Doolan, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Oracle Public Sector.

Glenn Archer, the IJIS Institute’s executive director, stated, “I am pleased to welcome Oracle as a Sustaining Member. Over the past 30 years, Oracle has become an industry leader in providing complete, open and integrated software and hardware systems to over 370,000 customers around the world.  In addition, Oracle continues to address community needs and improve the quality of life in the communities it does business, and focuses on bringing about positive change. Oracle initially joined the IJIS Institute as an Affiliate Member, and with its intensive experience in the IT field, along with its demonstrated support of our mission and events, has become a valuable asset to our organization. “
