But, let’s face the facts. Most of the “green” educational programs out there are expensive and take years to complete. For many of us going back to college to earn a Bachelor or Masters degree (which these days can often run between $20,000 – $40,000) is not an option. Even if we had the money…where’s the time? 1. Price: $1,299 – You can get an online Certified Sustainability Professional Certificate from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska. You will need to take 5 courses which are taught by Margaret Price, SCSP – Chairwoman & Chief Sustainability Officer of Green Supply Chain.org & Dr. Robert Price, the CEO of Green Supply Chain.org (Plus you get a Program Advisor assigned to you.)

2. Price: $1,299 – Have a little more experience and time? Try this 10 course Senior Certified Sustainability Professional certificate offered by Pellissippi State Technical Community College. All 10 courses must be completed within 12 months.

3. Price: $1,449 – Green Supply Chain also offers a Certified Sustainability Professional Certification (CSP). Tuition is $1,299 plus a $150 exam fee, all five courses are taught online and must be completed within 6 months.

4. Price: $1,585 – $2,095 – You can earn online certification with a Sustainability Facility ProfessionalTM from the International Facility Management Association. You will need to take and pass (with a 75% or higher) 3 online courses. Their website provides you with a table of contents for each course. Costs range from $1595 – $1895 (for IFMA membership which runs about $271 which may be a good investment as you will join 19,000 other members in the world’s largest international association for facility managers) and $1795 – $2095 for nonmembers. 5. Price: $1,649 – In the mid-priced range you can earn a Green Supply Chain Professional Certification (GSCP). Again, you need to take 5 online courses within 6 months. The cost breakdown in$1,499 for tuition plus a $150 exam fee.

6. Price: $1,695 – Hartford Community College offers an online 1 course Certified Green Supply Chain Professional certificate.

7.  Price: $2,340 – 2,600 – If you can spare the extra change International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) offers a 3 course online C102 Organizational GHG Management certification. Cost of the course depends on membership.What makes this program unique is that Financial Aid is offered for this certification!

8. Price: $2,674 – Green Supply Chain offers a 10 course, fully online Senior Certified Sustainability Professional Certification (SCSP). Breakdown of cost includes $2,499 for tuition plus a $175 exam fee. All 10 courses must be completed within 12 months.

9. Price: $4,770 – $5,300 – For those who can afford it you may want to look into the C204 Advanced GHG Offset Projects certification which helps project managers and accountants assess carbon markets and track and manage carbon sequestration within business operations. Cost ranges from$4,770 – $5,300 depending on membership and all of the courses can be taken online. Financial Aid is offered for this certification, too!
