By: Hult International Business School The University of Cambridge winning team includes students: Fabio Scappaticci, Akanksha Hazari, Oremeyi Akah, Alejandro Mora and Gavin Wedell. “Having an online component this year worked really well for us,” said Dr. Stephen Hodges, president of Hult International Business School. “It’ The virtual competition, which allowed followers to vote for the best solution via Facebook, consisted of individuals as well as teams of up to five members who were able to submit online their ideas and solutions to accelerate clean water access and sanitation around the world. Applicants who had already applied to the challenge but were not selected to one of the physical regional locations in Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai and Shanghai also qualified to participate. “Three of the regional runner-ups submitted entries and were all among the top vote getters. A common theme consistent among the top entries was the use of a catalytic philanthropy model, which utilizes commercial capital to create sustainable solutions,” said Ahmad Ashkar, Founder of the Hult Global Case Challenge. “Our pioneering innovation platform has unlimited reach as we continue to seek out solutions to the world’s most pressing social challenges.” The six teams competing in the Global Final in NYC include: • Online: • Boston: • San Francisco: Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business (California) • London: • Dubai: • Shanghai: All teams will receive an all-expense- The Hult Global Case Challenge competition is in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative and Water.org, an organization co-founded by Gary White and actor Matt Damon. The Global Winner will be awarded a $1 million prize, which will be made available to Water.org, along with the winning idea to accelerate access to clean water and sanitation. President Bill Clinton will be on hand at the final competition in New York City to deliver the keynote address and personally present the award to the winning team. Global judges will include Gary White, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Water.org; George Fisher, Former CEO of Kodak and current senior advisor of private equity powerhouse KKR; Bruce Mosler, Co-Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield; Peter Thum, Co-Founder of Ethos Water and a Vice President at Starbucks; Gary Hattem, President of the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation; and Jeffrey Fulgham, Chief Sustainability Officer, GE Power and Water.
