March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- We all know that moving house is up there with divorce as one of the most stressful things you can do. Once everything has been boxed up and loaded into a lorry, it almost seems impossible that all our possessions ever managed to fit into the home. Even after a big tidy up, there still seems to be far more than will possibly fit. Aside from arguing about who gets to keep what, it’s a good idea to put some energy into finding some storage solutions. With efficient use of the space, all that clutter can somehow disappear, giving you back your living space.
Shelving is still undoubtedly the most effective way to store your items. That way, toys, books, ornaments and other things you can’t bear to part with in the move can be stored away from the floor. Shelving gives you a sense of space even when the room is actually full of bits and pieces. Planning how you are going to use the space before you move in is always a good idea. But don’t panic. It’s always possible to add more shelves as you start to need them, or even to add bays to existing shelves if what you are storing starts to grow. And we all know that tends to happen very easily!
Above all, moving is a chance for a fresh start, and being able to organise your possessions should be looked at as an opportunity. As daunting as those boxes may seem when they arrive on your doormat, it’s a chance to really sort through things and get your home the way you want it. Being inventive about how to use your space is essential. How many of us let clutter pile up in the living room or bedroom, without using our shelving or cupboard space to the full? Think about it before you move and you can avoid this happening again. A lot of it can be hidden away from view, with a bit of ingenuity, and that means fighting over mess can become a thing of the past. Of course you will still need to tidy as you go, which is sometimes easier said than done.
Sometimes, it can be easy to put off jobs such as putting up shelves since it seems too onerous a task. This can be especially true when moving house, and there are so many other things you need to get done. The same can be true of any added costs you fear it might bring. However, getting new shelving needn’t involve hours walking around the nearest DIY shop or spending a fortune. “Many of our shelves are simple to put together, and at extremely affordable prices you can’t go wrong,” says Spokesman of Bernard’s Bins Bernard Jones. “Logging on to the internet to choose them is a much less stressful way to buy, too.” And we all know the value of avoiding stress when moving house.
