March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 28, 2011 – Traditional surveys, while important for capturing important trends, are often based on questionnaires and interviews; however, photographs tell a richer and more complex story.
In light of International Women’s Day, Kizoa.com recently conducted a survey, in which Facebook users could guess why women in photos were smiling, and post their own pictures about what makes them smile.
Of the pictures posted by Facebook users:
- more than 20% of the pictures were group pictures, featuring two or more women smiling together, and in many cases surrounded by their relatives.
- 25% of the pictures were actually photos of children or babies.

Other interesting facts were gleaned from the user comments:
- Latina women voiced concerns about the availability of jobs—both for themselves and for the people in their community.
- Family plays a large part in overall happiness, whether it is immediate or extended.
- Many US women are concerned about their family. One particular concern was voiced about the fate of their family members who serve overseas in the army.
