Illegal Teeth Whitening – Make sure your practitioner is qualified for the safest whitest teeth.

March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Just this week a test case at the General Dental Council fined a non qualified practitioner £3500.00 for whitening a person’s teeth when not adequately qualified to do so.
Make sure the person whitening your teeth is a Qualified Dentist registered and governed by the General Dental Council. Dental Hygienists and Dental therapists are also permitted to carry out whitening procedures under the prescription of a dentist who is registered with the GDC. Don’t be afraid to ask at consultation for a GDC Registration Number or other proof of registration. Legitimate dental professionals are more than happy to provide this and have certification in pride of place in treatment rooms.

The reason that only registered practitioners ONLY can carry out this treatment is simple – they follow a strict ethical code which demands they:
•   act in the best interests of the patient in providing a high standard of care,
•   obtain fully informed consent for treatment, which they must be competent to carry out,
•   obtain a medical history of the patient before starting treatment, and
•   give necessary explanations about benefits and risks.
Also a qualified professional is more able to spot any other dental problems which would need prompt appropriate care in addition to whitening treatments.
Don’t be fooled by bargain or gimmicky treatments – you may be putting your dental health at risk.
