Kid's Can Learn a Martial Art For Less Than It Cost To Take The Family To The Movies!

March 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Since 2008, the beginning of the most recent prolonged economic downturn people everywhere have been cutting back on the little things  that add value and enjoyment to our lives. That also means that for those who are suffering the most have to discontinue  many hobbies and extra curricular activities for their children as well. One activity that is more than just a hobby or a "nice to have" is martial arts and self protection training. Martial Arts and Self Protection Training can be life saving and the discipline that comes with the training can last a lifetime. The problem is that far too many martial arts businesses charge a fee, anywhere from 60 to 130 dollars a month. Then they include administrative fees and even attempt to bind the students and trainees legally with contracts. That is; until now.

The Academy of Combat Application Techniques, located near Lake Worth Texas offers a very affordable option to those who might other wise not be able to afford  the training at a conventional Martial Arts studio. There are no contracts, so the student or parent of a student doesn't have to worry about discontinuing the training at anytime. This is great for families like those in the military that relocate frequently. They also provide flexible "pay as you train" options ranging from 28 to 40 dollars a month. "That means that your child or in some cases children can receive monthly martial arts training for less than it would cost to take the family to a friday night movie with popcorn  and a drink", says Andy Curtiss the head instructor and owner of the business.

Curtiss was asked about why he decided to offer such affordable rates compared to his competitors. "We don't have competitors, because we aren't competing. It's just not right, that a lot of these so called black belts are charging what they charge to kids." He continued, "We are offering this rate, because I believe that everyone, especially children and women should have the opportunity to learn life saving self protection techniques." Curtiss Explained that he wouldn't charge at all if he just had the money to keep the doors open and still put food on his table.

Besides the children's martial arts programs, The Academy of Combat Application Techniques will offer Women's Awareness and Self Protection, Military and Police Hand to Hand Combat Training, Mixed Martial Arts and Adult Martial Arts classes. "Not all of the programs will be available immediately when the doors open in September of this year, because our priority is offering class space for the kids. Depending on how many class time slots are available after the kids register; we will then set time slots for the other training", Says Curtiss. The Grand Opening and first registration will be early in Fall of 2011 and Curtiss is expecting a high turnout.

Curtiss, a former Army Green Beret,  published author, national karate champion, professiional Mixed Martial Arts  fighter and veteran instructor of over 15 years decided to open up this "Mom and Pop" style  training facility so that he would be able to work at home and stay closer to his wife. Previously Curtiss has been working as an international  consultant and was out of the country up to 9 months a year. Curtiss holds 2 black belts in two different martial arts, a brown belt in Jujitsu and has trained with notable Masters in the martial arts world. The Academy of Combat Application Techniques is currently preparing for it's Fall 2011 Grand Opening Registration, and is located at  5840 Jacksboro Highway in Sansom Park; just outside of Lake Worth Texas next to "The Crow Bar" and "Cartel Ink".
