The last time these two teams met was in last years 2010 NPSL playoffs in July, where San Diego Boca FC defeated Real San Jose 4-1 on the road, to reach the Western Conference Finals against the Sacramento Gold.
Head Coach Papo Santos commented, “This is going to be a tough season but we are prepared as we have worked hard during the off-season keeping the players fit and in touch with the ball. Two of our key midfielders have moved on, Dan Antoniuk to the NASL with FC Edmonton and Abraham Gomez to the PDL with Thunder Bay. These are two players we are going to miss but we have added some nice talent during the off season to compensate, including the signing of Forward, Juan Manuel Perez who is coming off a stint playing pro in Hungary.”
Santos continued, “We have a long season ahead of us and it’s important to start off on the right foot with a victory against Real San Jose. Our players are prepared and we have been working hard on our conditioning, so we will be competitive and most importantly, play a good brand of futbol that our Boca fans can enjoy.”
