PRESS RELEASE:  For Art Event on Friday, April 1

Fantasy and Abstraction are the themes that will be featured at an Artists’ Reception on Friday, April 1, from 5-8 PM, at the Red Bluff Art Gallery, 601 Walnut.

Colorful, fantasy paintings by Juli Ryan open in the Window Gallery.  These original paintings are full of magic and fantasy, but also motivated by much deeper meaning.

“My favorite painting in the exhibit is “Two Minds,” says the artist, “This painting has two meanings…one, we all can see things in a positive or negative light. Two, my daughter has bipolar and doesn’t always have that choice, though she doesn’t give up looking for that happy balance.”

The Annual Abstract and DaDa Exhibit opens in the Main Hall and has become one of the most popular annual exhibits at the Red Bluff Art Gallery.

“We took a chance four years ago when we put on the first Annual Abstract show. At the time, we thought it might not fly in Red Bluff. The surprise has been that it is our most popluar annual show. It attracts a lot of local talent and allows them to show art that might not be appropriate at other Red Bluff venues,” says Co-Director Ana Nelson.

This year’s show features local artists like Eric Leslie, Christi Higgins, Linda Ross, Reeba Barrows, John Stewart, Jay Murphy, Tegwin Matenaer, Phil Dynan, Woody Thomson and Michelle Sparks – just to name a few. The exhibits will be open for all of April.

This is a First Friday Art Night event, featuring art every first Friday of every month. The Montana Morrison Gallery also participates, so visitors have both local galleries to visit on the same night.

Friday, April 1 is the opening night of the exhibition. A Reception will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM that evening. Dress is casual and everyone is welcome. More information by phoning 529-1332.
