The Prince Edward Island tourism industry accounts for more than 7200 full-time equivalent positions and salaries of $184 million annually. The multifaceted nature of the tourism industry makes it a great source of employment opportunities ranging from entry level positions through to top level management positions. Over 70 businesses were represented at the Tourism Job Fair and were expecting to hire hundreds of new employees. Mary Lou MacFarlane, Human Resources Manager for Rodd Hotels and Resorts, looks forward to the annual event. “This event is a great way for us to promote our employment opportunities, collect resumes and meet with potential candidates. We met a number of excellent candidates at the Tourism Job Fair and we look forward to following up with them.”
In April, TIAPEI will partner with the East Prince Youth Development Centre (EPYDC) to hold the Summerside Job Fair on Thursday, April 7, 2011. The Summerside Job Fair will be held at the Waterfront Mall, 98 Water Street in Summerside from 9.30am-4.30pm. This event features a variety of industries including tourism, aerospace, financial services, manufacturing and many more.
The job fairs are just two of the many initiatives that the Tourism Industry Association of PEI (TIAPEI) is involved in. TIAPEI advocates and promotes the tourism industry sector on behalf of its members and the entire tourism industry.
