March 25, 2011 - PRLog -- TATOC, the Timeshare Association, has announced that two major changes to the Board were approved by members at its recent Annual General Meeting held on 13th March 2011.

Mr Harry Taylor, previously Chief Executive Office, is to take up the position of Executive Chairman and will replace the current Chairman Mr David Eastburn.

Mr Eastburn has stepped down after several years’ service to TATOC. “We would like to thank David for his hard work and efforts over the past years. TATOC has grown as an organisation both in the number of members and in prestige during his time on the board”, said Mr Taylor.

Mr Taylor has been involved with TATOC for over 13 years and is based at the Association’s Manchester office. In his previous role as CEO, Mr Taylor has overseen TATOC’s increased acceptance as the voice of owners by the industry, consumer associations and government bodies.  As a happy timeshare owner and long standing resort committee member (at Sunset Bay and Royal Sunset Beach Club in Tenerife and Lakeview Country Club in Cornwall in the UK), Mr Taylor knows the advantages of timeshare ownership and shares the concerns of his fellow owners about disreputable businesses that have tarnished the industry. He understands that the industry and owners need to work together to safeguard and provide the quality holidays owners have purchased.

In another move, Mr Richard Coles has joined the TATOC board. Mr Coles, a retired capital accountant, is chairman of the owners committee at Cameron House, a De Vere resort located on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland. Mr Coles owns two weeks at the resort and joined the owners committee in 2003. He has been chairman of the committee since 2005 and is heavily involved with the running of the resort.  “I am delighted to join the board and hope that my experience as an owner can be beneficial”, Mr Coles said after his appointment.

The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), known as TATOC, was formed in 1989 and is the only elected consumer association representing the interests of timeshare owners in Europe.  Member resorts are located across Europe giving TATOC access to over 275,000 timeshare-owning families. The mission of TATOC is to safeguard and enhance the timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners. In 2010, TATOC focused not only on increasing the membership base but also raising the profile of the Association, establishing TATOC as the recognized voice of the timeshare consumer and an informed point of contact. The Association is now a regular contributor to the consumer press and works closely with the UK’s Trading Standards offices, the police and Which?, the consumer association.
