March 24, 2011 - PRLog -- “While I was designing a Social Reality Program I was forced to take a look at the Health Care Industry and I have to say I didn’t like what I saw.  Instead of seeing a healthy Doctor and Patient type relationship, I saw a triangle type relationship: Doctor, Patient and the Insurance Company. And over to the side I noticed the Drug Industry hovering over everyone. ” Charles Allen, Founder of Prescription-Lifespan said.

When you separate all of these moving components it’s easy to zero in on the cost issue that makes Health Care in the U.S. so expensive.  And with everyone wanting to protect their small piece of the pie, I thought it would be a difficult undertaking.  But to my surprise I found many in the Health Care Industry open to investing in non-traditional approaches that would assist in reducing cost in multi areas.  So I intend to take my time and work with the Doctors, Hospitals and Drug Companies I already have in my system before I fully open up.


Objectives:

•   Reduce Overall Cost
•   Bring Doctors into a more Profitable Network
•   Offer Consumers in our system a Secondary Medical Plan
•   Give Doctors a Universal Safety Net from Malpractice Lawsuits.
•   Partner with new Doctors & Medical Centers to reduce their Equipment Cost.
•   Allow Doctors to tap into our Consumer Network for Patients / New Drugs.
•   Allow our members to purchase Prepaid Medical Services: which will include a Prescription Component.
•   Work with the Drug Companies that’s in our system to redefine their Patent Structure in a way that reduces their loss when their Patent Expires.
•   Bring new Reward Sampling System On-line for Doctors.


Over the next 18 months the objectives for me are to simplify the Consumer/Patient experience and take the cost out of the equation in a way that would allow a doctor to focus more on their Patients’ illness.  Just stop for a moment and think:  What if a Doctor didn’t have to worry about an Insurance Company paying a claim or a Malpractice Lawsuit?  These are just two of issues my system will permit us to address.

As a designer I don’t know why the Medical, Insurance and Drug Industries haven’t gotten together and figured out a real solution that works for everybody.  Because it’s a very simple problem to solve or maybe the approach I am taking makes it to damn easy? But, while they are fighting over nickels and dimes per say, there’s a $2 trillion market, staring them in the face!  And the crazy thing about this $2 trillion market, it’s been staring the Health Care  Industry in the face for the last 20 years!  

Now the one thing I am not claiming to be is an expert in the health care field. I am a designer. I build things, and take things apart in order to find the “ifs” that stop a product or system from working.  I have always been able to go beyond what’s in front of me to see what a thought could become?  Just look around you. Everything you see and touch started as a thought! And when I took one piece of this crazy industry and connected it to another piece and another piece, and another piece the overall puzzle started taking shape. What I saw took me so far beyond the Social Reality Program I was designing. That’s when the light bulb went off, it forced me to debate with myself, because I didn't feel it could be this easy, but it is!!!!  Which leads me to believe there's a lot of smart, dumb people in Washington D.C...
