The sisters grew up in the small market town of Oakham in Rutland and had always hoped to work together in the future. Inspired by the rustic interior style favoured by their mother, they often spent their weekends scouring shops, markets and antique fairs to find beautiful and unique pieces and both share a passion for interior design and country cottage style.
Bron and Lis came up with the idea of Through the Cottage Door after discovering the ease of online shopping and the benefits of browsing whenever you choose without having to leave the comfort of your own home. They value the opinion of their customers above all else and always attempt to go above and beyond to ensure that every customer is thrilled with their purchase. Every item is carefully wrapped by hand so that the buyer feels that they are receiving a gift when it arrives at their home.
The site has grown since it opened last year to include gifts for men, baby and christening keepsakes, wedding and occasion treats and an extensive range of indoor and outdoor furniture. “The feedback from friends and family was really helpful and alerted us to the fact that people want a site from which they can buy everything at once – gifts for mums, sisters, partners, brothers, fathers and children” says Bron. “We went to as many trade fairs as possible and did plenty of research until we felt that we had found the best of the best. We are really happy with the site but will always continue to search for inspiration to meet the needs of our customers”
The style of the site is inspired by the typical country cottage and features an array of products, from vintage-style French clocks and nautical accessories to elegant kitchen textiles and rustic, shabby chic furniture.
The beautifully designed site is based in West Yorkshire has appeared in Vogue, H2B, Western Mail and Rutland Living. Browse the site for yourself at www.throughthecottagedoor.co.uk
