Crowne Plaza Bahrain Switch Off the Lights for EARTH HOUR

March 24, 2011 - PRLog -- We’re taking part!  On Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 6:00 pm, Crowne Plaza Bahrain Team will participate in Earth Hour—the world’s largest global climate change event.

By simply switching off all non-essential lighting for one hour at the hotel, employees’ accommodation and in our own homes, we will join more than a billion of concerned citizens throughout the world in calling for action to save our planet for the future generations.

Earth Hour is an event led by the World Wildlife Fund, first started in Australia (2007 which aimed to bring community together to acknowledge the importance of reducing consumption of earth’s natural resources.  The campaign hopes to encourage consumers, businesses, and governments to be thoughtful in action plans to carry out practical ways to reduce emissions. Since its inception, Earth Hour has inspired more than a billion people worldwide in over 4,616 cities from 128 countries to join this important event.

Normally the event starts from 8:30 pm based on the participant’s local time however with the current situation in Bahrain, Crowne Plaza Bahrain Team decided to do it earlier at 6:00 pm. In this way, we can still support the drive and we can voice out our ardent desire to make a difference.

Crowne Plaza Bahrain and all other hotels from the Intercontinental Hotels Group are truly committed and actively participate in this kind of advocacy as we have been constantly looking for ways that our hotels can operate more efficiently, waste less and reduce our environmental footprints.
