Fast Focus Careers Announces Launch of Women's Career Makeover Workshop

March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The Fast Focus Careers Women's Career Makeover is a unique new workshop series to optimize growth and career satisfaction for women.  The workshop will cover two important issues that undermine careers and prevent them from achieving maximum success:  wrong job fit and lack of sponsorship from an advocate.

A recent study by Sylvia Ann Hewlett at the Center for Work-Life Policy and Harvard Business Review Research, January 2011, reports women's failure to acquire the backing they need to attain higher positions, holds women back from advancement.  Women are only half as likely as their male peers to have a sponsor.  The study found that women underestimate the role sponsorship plays in their advancement.

"The Sponsor Effect" defines a sponsor as someone who advocates for a protege's next promotion as well as doing at least two of the following:  expanding the perception of what the protege can do; making connections to senior leaders inside and out of the organization; promoting visibility and opening up career opportunities.  Mentors offer friendly advice.  Sponsors pull you up to the next level.

The Women's Career Makeover Workshop is filled with vital information from research on women in the workplace and Sunny Lurie's 22 years of experience in employee development, performance improvement, career management, women and careers, and research in organizational change.  A key finding from Lurie's work with 1000s of employees is that career satisfaction is closely linked to high-level performance and success.

Women who regularly use their strengths or interests at work often improve their job satisfaction.  When work is satisfying, women feel empowered and have greater confidence and strength to advance their careers.
 
Objective:  The Women's Career Makeover Workshop is a small group session where smart, determined women learn a 6 step process to clarify their strengths and interests to build a satisfying career and the latest strategies needed to advance their careers.
The Women's Career Makeover Workshop is for all women who believe their career advancement is more than luck--it requires a plan and the right tools.  The workshop is for career-minded women changing from one type of work to another, or those who have decided to come back to the workplace to turn a "job" into a satisfying career.

The Women's Makeover Workshop series is a 3 day four-hour workshop and will be held on April 27, May 4 and May 11 from 5:30-9:30 pm.  The program includes two prviate career coaching sessions.   The Workshop will be held in Beachwood, Ohio.
