Much-lauded Australian guitarist Gwyn Ashton has boosted his PA setup for solo acoustic shows with the purchase of an HK Audio Elements system. Elements, distributed in the UK & Eire by John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd., is a lightweight, portable PA system suitable for anything from speeches to live bands. Easy to transport, set up and control, Elements is also cable-free except for a signal cable from mixing console to amp, thanks to its revolutionary E-Connect system. Ashton heard the system as it was providing sound for the recent Birmingham Guitar Show. He was so impressed, he found the JHS stand and bought one on the spot. Ashton said: "I do acoustic gigs around the place in between tours, and I don't want to be lugging big PAs everywhere. So I got this HK Elements system, and it's giving me a better sound than my bigger PA - and it's a twentieth of the weight. I can take two boxes and the poles in one hand, and you can set it up in about 30 seconds. Plus it sounds fantastic! It projects right to the back of the room. It's great - I'd recommend it to anybody." His new Elements setup includes two active subs, two mid/high cabs and two poles. The Elements system was a big hit at the Birmingham show too, with show organiser Jason Hunt saying: "The HK Elements PA system used at the Birmingham Guitar Show was a great system that constantly delivered a high quality output backed up with great support from all the guys at JHS."
