The project began in 2009, after Superior Walls of the Hudson Valley (SWHV) was awarded the contract to install the foundations for the housing units at West Point, NY. The units, all built with crawl space foundations, would be in need of access wells. Thus, SWHV selected the Turtl, a product of Basement Systems, Inc., as the crawl space door and entry system.
This year, SWHV will be installing the last of the foundations and Turtls; which are essential for accessing storage and the mechanical closets typically found in crawl spaces.
Because of its proven ability to protect home’s against the effects of crawl space moisture problems, the Turtl has been described as the “ultimate”
“We love the product and plan on keeping a few on hand so we can offer them to other customers in the future,” says Tami Ackert, owner of SWHV.
Although deterioration is common amongst crawl spaces, it’s often caused by preventable problems such as: mold, mildew, bug infestations, and rusting and rotting steel or wooden doors. The Turtl’s vinyl assembly helps it to endure the elements and prevent such corrosive conditions. Not only that, the Turtl can be installed in crawl spaces that have an entryway, or in crawl spaces where the entry still needs to be created.
