Jinny Software brings SMS onto 4G LTE networks

The Jinny IP SM Gateway is a cost-effective solution for operators moving to support SMS over next-generation networks.

Global revenues from SMS is now worth more than USD$105 billion per year, according to analysts at Informa Telecoms & Media. Operators are now evolving toward full IP networks, with 4G LTE network deployments under pressure to support increasingly heavy loads of mobile data traffic while also maintaining high-performance messaging services. The Jinny IP SM Gateway ensures that the customer experience is kept optimal while operating LTE networks in parallel with legacy 2G or 3G networks.

Gateway to integration

The solution acts as a bridge between IMS-designed LTE networks and legacy SS7 circuit switched networks. Following 3GPP & 3GPP2 standards, the Jinny IP SM Gateway enables messaging continuity and messaging interworking between both domains.

Building on Jinny’s feature-rich SMS solutions, the product provides advanced and flexible routing capability in order to maximize the usage of legacy messaging centres in both CDMA and GSM environments, reducing both capital and operational costs.

The product also brings a differentiating messaging feature set that can be applied on the new network domain, including advanced message filtering, personalized messaging services and advertising insertion in the message traffic. This helps mobile operators to provide - and maintain while growing the LTE customer base – greater and secured control over messaging traffic, plus additional differentiating services, augmenting customer stickiness and segmentation.

Supporting an LTE future

According to ABI research, there are currently a total of 185 LTE networks in the deployment or trial phase worldwide. “LTE networks are the de-facto standards for the evolution of mobile networks favoured by both GSM and CDMA mobile operators,” says Ludovic Patraud, Head of Product Management at Jinny Software. “The Jinny IP SM Gateway enables them with an effective way to introduce SMS in their new generation of networks and provide smooth integration and transition with legacy messaging services.
