Proximity of US Nuclear Power Plants to Earthquakes

Apofacy Solutions has created an interactive graphic that compares the proximity of US nuclear power plants to earthquakes in the past year.

March 21, 2011 - PRLog -- With the recent earthquake disaster and subsequent nuclear power plant crisis in Japan, the safety of US nuclear power plants has been questioned. Apofacy Solutions has created an interactive graphic that compares the proximity of US nuclear power plants to earthquakes in the past year. It also calculates the largest earthquakes within a 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 mile radius of each nuclear power plant.

It allows the viewer to see statistics from each of the 104 nuclear power plants in the United States, as well as nearby earthquakes.

“This display is is intended to provide facts for the emerging debate of the safety of US nuclear power plants with respect to possible natural disasters.  It lets the viewer draw their own conclusions from the facts presented." says Anthony Chamberas, Principal of Apofacy Solutions.

The display can be seen on the Apofacy Solution website.
