Ashwin has a solid background in the conference and training industry and within the Chartridge Conference Company, where he started his career in 2002 at the Hitchin Priory Conference Centre in Hertfordshire. After a short break in 2004 to his Nairobi homeland Ashwin returned to England, where he gained further experience working with hotels in the Thames Valley. In 2005, when the position of operations manager at Chartridge Conference Centre became available, he was approached and accepted the role with responsibilities for ensuring the smooth running and maximising profitability at the Buckinghamshire venue.
Following a stringent selection process in March 2011, Ashwin was promoted to the position of general manager at Lydiard House. He commented: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the team at Lydiard House. Chartridge Conference Company is very much a people focused business so making sure the right people are in the right roles is crucial. Our philosophy has always been to employ people who have the right attitude and to invest in developing their skills. Ashwin added that one of his first goals will be to evaluate operations at Lydiard House to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the centre. “As with all forward-thinking businesses there will be areas that work well and others that can be improved upon. With the right teams and procedures in place we will concentrate on building loyalty and increasing business with our current customers as well as developing new business opportunities. This is a wonderful challenge and I am looking forward to helping Lydiard House achieve its full potential in the coming years.”
