Feinmann Inc. Feinmann won with this year’s award for the exceptional renovation of a client’s kitchen and the creation of a breakfast seating area that maximized enjoyment of an ‘urban’ garden the client’s loved. Their kitchen design also won the 2010 Eastern Massachusetts NARI Silver Award for Best Kitchen. Feinmann opened up the available space and suspended the breakfast area over the garden with a cantilevered box bay window comprised of floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides. To make this possible, the team reconfigured the existing kitchen by moving the sink and storage to an island adjacent to the commonly used back door. This resulted in a completely transformed kitchen, radically altered by the minimal intervention of the box bay element and cabinetry reorganization. The client’s were ecstatic with their new kitchen and said “The floor-to-ceiling windows, designed by the Feinmann staff, enable us to feel a part of our outdoor garden during all four seasons.
