March 18, 2011 - PRLog -- EATONTOWN, NJ – Three candidates are interviewing for an open position. All applicants have excellent reasons why they deserve the position. While the employing company gets the ultimate say, ‘Who Gets Hired?’, an online feature of Snelling Staffing – The Wyckoff Group (TWG), allows local job seekers and hiring professionals to vote on the candidate they think should get the job.

“The hiring process has transformed dramatically over the past two years. The expanded applicant pool makes it difficult to find the ideal candidate, but recovering companies can’t afford anything less than the perfect match,” says Frank Wyckoff, President of Snelling Staffing – TWG, with headquarters in Eatontown. “’Who Gets Hired?’ is an excellent way for employers and job hunters to experience these changes and see how much really goes into the hiring process in today’s economy.”

Approximately each month, Snelling Staffing – TWG contacts its database of candidates and client companies and provides a case study with an active hiring scenario. Recipients are given an overview of the hiring company’s history and a description of the desired professional. From there, the audience is informed of how the job search was conducted up to that point. Voters get to see how the candidate pool was narrowed down from a huge group of applicants to three finalists.

“When job seekers see a real life hiring scenario being played out, they build a better understanding of the hiring process. They learn from other people’s experiences as they search and interview for their own positions,” says Wyckoff. “It’s also beneficial for our client companies to see the choices made and why. They can compare their hiring process to other local employers.”

The three finalists are then highlighted with summaries of their professional experiences and qualifications. ‘Industry Benchmarking’ and ‘Words from the Experts’ sections are added to help readers gain more knowledge of the employer’s field. Finally, the voters select who they think should get hired for the job. To see an example of a past case study, visit www.snellingnj.com/whogetshiredcaseexample/. Note: the company’s and candidates’ actual names are kept confidential.

When the employing company makes its final decision a few weeks later, The Wyckoff Group posts the results including the hiring manager’s reasons why that candidate was selected. Wyckoff believes this is the most valuable information for the voters to receive.

“While all three candidates look excellent on paper, outside factors such as ‘company culture’ come into play,” says Wyckoff. “A lot of strategy goes into hiring the right person and the explanation for the final decision enforces that principle to all of the voters.”

Participants are also informed of how others responded and a breakdown of the voters (hiring managers vs. job seekers). To see an example of a results page, www.snellingnj.com/whogetshiredresultsexample/. Wyckoff reports that the majority of respondents are local employers and hiring managers as opposed to job seekers, adding that this is also a good way for hiring authorities to evaluate their own process.

“While the votes don’t affect the employer’s final decision, it really is a great learning experience for everyone involved,” adds Wyckoff.

Snelling Staffing – TWG currently has an open ‘Who Gets Hired?’ case study in which a start-up company is planning to hire a CFO. To vote, visit http://www.snellingnj.com/who-gets-hired-21511-study/. Live voting ends March 25th, 2011.
