Outgoing committee co-chairs Dr. Denise Mills and Dr. Matthew Savory, provided leadership for the gala which will support four local non-profit organizations currently serving the community as well as the Merrimack Valley Food Bank’s innovative and successful Community Market program.
Local non-profits who were awarded Community Health Initiative grants for 2011 included Lowell Community Health Center to support the Cross-Cultural Pediatric Mental Health Services Project, United Teen Equality Center, Inc for Transitional Coaching as a Mental Health Resource for Lowell Youth, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, Inc. to help fund its Healthy Habits Program, and Catie's Closet to carry out the "Back on the Bus" Program.
This year’s event was made possible by the generosity of our Gold Star Sponsor Enterprise Bank, and the support by Silver Sponsors Commonwealth Radiology Associates, Demoulas Foundation, Eastern Bank, KLIN Spirits, Lowell Anesthesiology, Merrimack Valley Emergency Associates, Pediatrics West, PC and Trinity EMS. The Lowell General Hospital Ball was established in 2006 by the hospital, its dedicated medical staff and concerned members of the community to generate awareness and funds to help address significant health issues facing our community. Net proceeds benefit the hospital's Community Health Initiatives programs. Past events have supported mental health awareness programs and resources through HES, Inc., The Wish Project’s Beds for Kids program; breastfeeding support, Boot Camp for New Dads, smoking awareness programs in the Lowell Public Schools, and more.
