MuttShack Animal Rescue Foundation Launches Crusade to Save Animal Shelter Pets

March 18, 2011 - PRLog -- The killing of shelter animals is the number one cause of death for healthy dogs and cats in America. Every day adoptable pets at animal shelters are unjustly euthanized, but this is about to change.

In alignment with the goals of “Redemption” author Nathan Winograd, MuttShack Animal Rescue Foundation has begun its own “Save Our Shelter Pets” crusade in the Los Angeles area. The crusade's mission is to rescue pets in local shelters by setting up pet adoption events in heavy traffic areas, like shopping malls, at local festivals and markets and pet supply stores.

Agreements are now going into place with various shopping mall centers to set up regular pet adoption events. PetCo, Northridge Fashion Square, and Pets of Porter Ranch are among the first to welcome MuttShack volunteers and the great array of shelter pets into their centers.

MuttShack has partnered with Los Angeles Animal Services and is their newest New Hope partner. The pilot program, which also partners with Phoenix House volunteers, is focused initially on the East and West Valley animal shelters.

Phoenix House Volunteers complete basic animal handling, and adoption event training with real dogs. The students bring a whole new energy to adoption events.

“There is an incredible selection of stunningly beautiful animals.” said MuttShack founder Amanda St. John. “From small cute fluffy “designer” dogs, to the large but loveable, huggable big dogs like Rottweilers and German Shepherds.”  Many are purebreds just looking for a family. Others are one of a kind “designer” mutts made just for you.

The first adoption events are on Sunday March 20th   from 10am to 4pm to celebrate a St Pawtricks Day Pet Adoption at Petco located at 19869 Rinaldi St. in Porter Ranch, at Whole Foods and Pets of Porter Ranch, both located at 19300 Rinaldi St.in Northridge.

All the pets are spayed and neutered, microchipped and have all their shots If you’re looking for a pet there isn’t a more fun and exciting way to find one.
