Canada's Bombardier Launches New E-Mobility Solution; Electric Mobility Centre

March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Transportation solutions group Bombardier Inc., said Thursday that it had launched a new e-mobility solution, called PrimoveCity, as well as establishing a new centre of competence to support the next generation of electric mobility.

Bombardier said PrimoveCity will address the range and recharging constraints of electric vehicles and aim to reshape public transportation by providing common technology for all forms of electric vehicles, including buses, commercial vehicles, trams, taxis and cars.

The new centre is located at Bombardier's engineering and manufacturing facility in Mannheim, Germany. A new state-of-the-art testing and development facility is due to open at the site in September 2011.

The company said in a statement that the new centre will support future partnerships, projects and emerging opportunities in the fast developing electric mobility sector. It did not disclose how much it was investing in the new centre.

"The aim of the PrimoveCity program is to change the game in electric mobility by providing easy, unlimited emission-free mobility in cities for all types of electric vehicles," said Andre Navarri, the President of Bombardier Transportation.

Bombardier Transportation offers a broad portfolio in the rail industry and delivers innovative products and services in sustainable mobility. The Canadian-based group manages global operations and reported revenues of $19.4 billion for the year ended January 31, 2010.
