Senior Living Communities Launches Wrinkle Think, an Industry and Caregiver Resource

March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you’re not sure whether to be offended or entertained by a pro-aging blog named Wrinkle Think, you’re not alone. Blog creator Jason Johnson had the same concerns about using the name to develop an interactive and progressive voice for Senior Living Communities, a Charlotte, N.C.-based owner and operator of 12 retirement communities.

All doubts aside, Johnson’s vision for Wrinkle Think (http://wrinklethink.tumblr.com/), was to provide industry professionals, caregivers and elders a place to engage in thoughtful conversations on aging – and to combat negative perceptions about older adults.  “We’re talking about embracing, not erasing, our wrinkles,” Johnson asserts.

Along with Johnson, blog contributors Katie Huffstetler and Thomas Torrey are vocal supporters of person-centered initiatives in long-term care which decry the institutionalized nursing homes of old. Blog content varies, with a healthy mix of proprietary editorial content, video journals and a sprinkling of links to stories related to aging.

Members of several Senior Living Communities will also appear occasionally on the blog, but the tool will remain a separate entity from its parent company.

“The goal of our blog is to discuss a spectrum of issues related to aging, and to positively impact the lives of elders and the people who care for them,” said Johnson. “We will remain fiercely dedicated to reversing stereotypes and assisting others in successfully navigating the aging process.”
