Follow on Google News | Michael has the right formula for music successBristol-based Michael Strong is dispelling the myth of the boring accountant after launching his own album on iTunes, in his spare time.
By: Kayleigh Sydenham Michael’s music is all instrumental based, he plays piano as well as orchestral instruments and drums and Michael says his music draws on all styles and influences. The album Kaleidoscope uses a mixture of orchestral and electronic instruments to create 11 atmospheric movie soundtrack style pieces which include Promise, Marathon and the title track, Kaleidoscope. Michael said: “I have always had a passion for music and making and releasing an album has been great fun. It’s one of those boxes I’ve always wanted to tick and it’s very satisfying to see the final product now. I didn’t do it for commercial reasons but it does feel very surreal to see my music on sale on iTunes!” Michael has worked in the Bristol office of Saffery Champness, on Beaufort Road, Clifton for the past six years. The office specialises in media and entertainment, which compliments Michael’s after hours hobby. “Music is my creative outlet but it also fits in nicely with my job. It helps to have some background of the industry when dealing with the accounts of people in the business. “I enjoy both music and accountancy and although an unlikely combination, the two interests have always been interlinked; Saffery Champness has a strong portfolio of clients in the South West in the creative industries, including entertainers, musicians, sports stars, television and film industry businesses and media businesses. Michael released Kaleidoscope entirely on his own, from composing and performing the tracks to designing the artwork, arranging a distributor and releasing the finished product. It can now be purchased online at all major download sites including iTunes, Napstar and Amazon. Michael also performs at various events around the region with different groups including the Swindon Amateur Light Operatic Society and a local jazz ensemble. He concluded: “My two children think I’m a rockstar, the album may not sell millions of copies, but it’s worth it just for that label from them!” End
