Social Media Club Palm Beach County Announces Speakeasy Tweetup #SMCTweetEasy at The Hideaway

SMCPBC Hosts Early Twentieth-Century Jazz Speakeasy Themed Networking Party with Piano Bar Karaoke Hosted by Evan R. Ferrar, Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 7:00 – 10:30 PM

March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Lake Worth, Florida - Social Media Club Palm Beach County (SMCPBC), local area chapter of the international association Social Media Club, hosts a speakeasy-themed piano bar karaoke social media networking party event at The Hideaway, Lake Worth, on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 7:00 – 10:30 PM. The event is free, and The Hideaway is providing drink specials and period-themed games for attendees to win free drinks and swag.  Newcomers and enthusiasts alike are encouraged to attend.

Social Media Club Palm Beach County provides a local venue for social media innovators, enthusiasts, and beginners to come together for monthly events to share, engage, and collaborate with the community on relevant issues in the world of new media, communication, community-building and technology. Upon arrival, participants will be asked to tweet #SMCTweetEasy as the password to get into the club and to check in on Foursquare to pass it on. There will be a live Twitter feed projected onto a wall at the event which utilizes online software that tracks a Twitter feed by hashtag so that attendees can watch the tweets that are tagged with relevant keywords in order to follow the conversation happening live online as the event takes place. Participants are encouraged to tweet live about the event using the hashtags #SMC, #SMCPBC, and #SMCTweetEasy on Twitter.

“In the spirit of uniting Palm Beach County’s social media community offline, we thought the interactive tradition of karaoke coupled with the speakeasy-themed piano bar setting would be an amusing and entertaining way to engage our local crew of social media rock stars,” says Demi Pietchell, Social Media Club Palm Beach County’s chapter chair. “We’re looking forward to getting the band back together for another lively night of networking and fun.”

Piano bar karaoke host Evan R. Ferrar originally hails from Palm Beach where he studied music with Dr. Jack Jones. After ten years in Ireland he returned to this country to study singing with Virginia Zeani. He has worked throughout Ireland as a coach, chorus master, and singer with Castleward Opera, Opera Theatre Company, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Lyric Opera Productions, Festival Productions, the Downpatrick Opera Fringe, and Wexford Festival Opera. In the States he works as a coach, accompanist and singer. He was musical director for productions of Miss Saigon, Bye Bye Birdie, and Cabaret for Palm Beach Principal Players and Entr'acte Theatrix. Upcoming projects include You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and the Producers. He sings in the Palm Beach Opera Chorus and has appeared as Parpignol in their mainstage production of La Boheme and as Don Ottavio and the Mayor in their reduced opera productions of Don Giovanni and Albert Herring.
