March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- The International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association's (IFWTWA) Excellence Awards program recognizes the world's finest travel and tourism industry professionals as experienced by the organization's journalist members. Captain Andy Hill earned IFWTWA's Award of Excellence in Hospitality for his outstanding inn and exemplary guest services at his private island lodge at Eagle Island, Georgia.

According to the IFWTWA member journalist who nominated Capt. Hill for recognition: “Capt. Andy Hill has personally built Eagle Island and Eagle Lodge from reclaimed treasures, including ballast stone, old brick and wood, mantles from old buildings, doors, windows and hearths from other Georgia buildings. His guest service skills are exemplary, making every guest feel as if they are the only people in the world at the time they visit. He picks them up in his boat, shares nautical information and stories, even has their groceries delivered to the island and stocks the lodge before they arrive. His genuine care and concern for his guests is unsurpassed, making his private island getaway their island too. The food lover can be excited by the fully equipped indoor and outdoor kitchens, cook stand for authentic low country boils and oyster steamer. The sports enthusiast had options for kayaking, fishing, boating. And, the couch potato can do absolutely nothing, whether lying in a hammock reading, taking photos of the wildlife and vistas, even listening to the sounds of breezes from the ocean.”

The award nomination was carefully evaluated and recommended by IFWTWA's Excellence Awards Committee and the award approved by IFWTWA's Board of Directors.

“As a winner of an IFWTWA Excellence Award, Captain Hill demonstrates the professional standards that represent the best in the hospitality industry,” said Maralyn Hill, IFWTWA President. “He and other professionals in his class set – and raise – the bar in the hospitality field worldwide.”
