March 15, 2011 - PRLog -- CULVER CITY, Calif.—Access Executive Network, Los Angeles will sponsor a keynote presentation by Joel Manfredo, the County of Orange’s chief technology officer, on green IT and real estate convergence on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:00 PM at Sony Pictures Plaza, 3910 Madison Ave, Culver City, Calif.

According to Mr. Manfredo, climbing energy costs, increasing heat density, the smart grid and government regulation are compelling IT vendors to become involved in energy and energy vendors to become involved in IT. CIOs have been caught by surprise for failing to consider energy in projects only to learn significant capital investment would be required. Today’s IT projects must address these energy considerations. Joel Manfredo’s presentation will outline the scale of this global trend, address influencing factors and reveal compelling market evidence of a powerful yet quiet sea change in progress: the convergence of real estate and information technology.

Mr. Manfredo is a seasoned, well-rounded executive offering leadership and vision based upon over thirty years of experience working for major organizations. He spent the last 16 years in transformational chief information officer roles and the prior 18 years in many functions in commercial real estate including leasing, finance, development, operations, marketing, construction and utilities. Mr. Manfredo consulted with the EPA in the early 1990s and was instrumental in the applicability of the EnergyStar program to commercial real estate. In 2007, he was named one of the top 100 CIOs in the U.S. acknowledging work in green technology and received a lifetime achievement award form Realcomm.

Featured Business Case
The evening featured business case will be presented by Terry Montgomery, chief executive officer of Oromia Kaffa and will focus on how they should brand their business to attract potential investors.

The company’s opportunity for the market is:
• Coffee is the world’s #2 commodity (Petroleum #1) • U.S. is the leading coffee consumer in the world: 146 billion cups per year • $1.3 billion of organic coffee is sold in U.S. and Canada in 2008 • Ethiopia coffee is considered the best Grade 1 beans worldwide

It has been known for centuries that “coffee is Ethiopia’s gift to the world”, and that Ethiopian coffee is “the coffee of royalty.” The story of coffee actually has its beginnings in Ethiopia, the original home of the coffee plant (kaffa) or coffee arabica, which still grows wild in the forest of the highlands. Ethiopia produces some of the most unique and fascinating coffees of the world.

Oromia Kaffa is headquartered in Los Angeles and plans to grow, harvest and ship the highest quality Arabica, Grade 1, coffee beans from Ethiopia to international specialty roasters and wholesalers around the world.

Admission to the event is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Space is limited; pre-registration may be required to ensure seating. Register online at http://www.accessen.org/.
