Brummies are the Booziest Britons

March 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The company behind the MyVoucherCodes Mobile Application has analysed user data to reveal the top 10 locations across the UK that are home to the ‘booziest Britons;’ based on the locations where the app is most frequently used to save money in bars and pubs.

According to the results, below are the top 10 locations across the UK where the app is most frequently used to save money in bars and clubs:

1.   Birmingham – 16% (of pub and bar vouchers downloaded from the MyVoucherCodes Mobile Application are from users based in Birmingham)
2.   Liverpool – 14%
3.   Cardiff – 12%
4.   Southampton – 11%
5.   Bristol – 9%
6.   Newport – 8%
7.   Glasgow –7 %
8.   Leeds – 6%
9.   Brighton – 4%
10.   Sheffield – 3%

Since the launch of the MyVoucherCodes Mobile Application, consumers have saved more than £1m by using the 100% free GPS-enabled Apple and Android smartphone application.

As a result of the user data, the company behind the MyVoucherCodes App conducted a poll of 892 residents from Birmingham and Sheffield in a bid to discover how frequently they visit bars and pubs on a weekly basis. According to the study, three fifths, 59%, of those from Birmingham admitted to visiting bars and pubs an average of twice a week. In comparison, just over a third, 36%, of those polled from Sheffield claimed to frequent bars and pubs at least twice a week.

The study found that only 4% of respondents from Birmingham ‘never’ visit bars and pubs; whilst less than a tenth, 8%, of the respondents from Sheffield stated that the same.

Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk – the UK’s leading discount website and the site behind the mobile application, commented on the findings:

“Since the launch on to the Android Operating System, the team behind the MyVoucherCodes App are continuously conducting user research in order to discover how to strengthen the app even further. Previous data analysis earlier this year found that discounts for restaurants have been the most popular amongst the MyVoucherCodes App users, whilst London is the home to Britain’s thriftiest shoppers.”

He continued:

“Since launching in November 2010, the application has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times, achieving a rate of more than 5,000 downloads per day. It will be interesting to revisit this data once the app has been available on the Android system for a few months, to see how popular discount hunters on a different operating system are.”

The partnership team have negotiated with the likes of Pizza Hut, Debenhams, Argos, GAP, Fitness First, YO! Sushi and Hotel Chocolat to provide unique deals and discount vouchers for application users.  Deals available on the MyVoucherCodes App are updated daily, meaning that there are not always deals available from every retailer in partnership with the MyVoucherCodes App.
