PRLog - March 14, 2011 - In the popular imagination, the term ''trailer park'' suggests downward mobility, the back end of the American dream. In fact, over the last few decades Federal regulations have raised the quality of mobile homes, now known formally as manufactured housing. In 2005, determine to prove that trailer parks are filled with beautiful dwellings, rapper Brooks Buford and his design team rolled into Goethals Garden Homes to depict trailer homes that were already stylish and modern for the promo of a MTV Show Trailer Fabulous.
One of the homes, the crew fell in love with was Tania Espinosa's house at 2701 Goethals Road, North Unit #F-20, on Staten Island. This house has evertything from a deck to a sunroom, a garden to a shed, an office to a stackable washer and dryer. Beyond that energy-efficiency provided by skylights and thermo-controls, it rests at the back of Garden Homes providing a scenery that most people in New York would pay an arm and a leg for; and maybe even throw in a kidney. The house served as a model of what manufactured housing can be for the MTV shows promotional trailer.
Two years later, despite the fame of Garden Homes, and the glamour of the F-20 Unit, Excel Realty Associates, has listed the home for just 125K. Certainly, this would be an equally glamous price if the home were listed in Elkhart, Indiana - the RV Capital of the world, but, we are talking Staten Island, New York here.
