PRLog - March 14, 2011 - LOGAN, Utah -- Robert Baxt, whose outstanding and original comedy magic has been awarded top prizes in international competitions, will be giving a special performance for the public, followed by a private lecture for magicians only, at the historic Thatcher-Young Mansion in Logan, Utah on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Hosted by the Cache Valley Conjurers, the Robert Baxt Comedy Magic Show will start at 7 p.m. and is suitable for family audiences. The private lecture for magicians only will immediately follow the performance, at approximately 8 p.m. The cost of the performance only is just $5 per person, payable at the event. The cost for magicians of the performance and lecture is just $20. According to deceptionist Richard Hatch, Baxt's lecture in Logan is historic, being the first formal lecture by a professional magician to other magicians in Cache Valley. "We hope this will be the first of many such lectures," said Hatch, co-owner with his wife, violinist Rosemary Hatch, of the Hatch Academy of Magic and Music housed in the Thatcher-Young Mansion.
Robert Baxt is a comedy magician well known to other magicians around the world for his many international appearances and highly regarded workshops on conjuring he shares with the secret magical fraternity. Born in Brooklyn, New York, even as a child Robert was off and entertaining with humor, balloon twisting, and comedy. When asked why he learned magic tricks, Robert replied: “When I was a kid trying out my jokes on my family, my father would always ask me if I could disappear.” His parents not being able to afford to send him to driving school, let alone college, Robert worked his way through performing at children’s birthday parties, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Upon graduating college, he was presented with the dual opportunities of being accepted to both Ringling Brothers Clown College and Law School. Without hesitation, Baxt chose the one he felt would give him the better training for a life in comedy: Law School!
He got his juris doctorate degree, but realized that no one ever applauded an attorney after a hard day of cheating people. So, he turned to a full time career of honestly cheating people, being a magician!
Comedy clubs, casinos, and college campuses not being enough, this gifted actor found himself making television appearances in South America, the Orient, Italy, Canada, and Spain; as well as numerous showcases on “America’s Funniest People” on ABC television, and FOX-TV's reality competition show "30 Seconds to Fame" and the syndicated TV show "That's So Funny".
Robert is highly regarded by his fellow performers. He is the winner of the International Brotherhood of Magicians First Prize in their national Gold Medal Competition, and has won a Comedy Trophy from the international Olympics of Magic sponsored by the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques. He writes jokes and routines for many more famous celebrities and comedians, including magician David Copperfield. Among Robert's many other projects is learning to speak Japanese just so he can have a whole other country to entertain! Robert Baxt lives in Hollywood, California; where he is one of the favorite entertainers at the famous private nightclub, the Magic Castle.
